To $8000 to avoid mobilization: the DSBU exposed a serviceman in Mykolaiv region

DSBU employees exposed a serviceman who, for money, promised to help those liable for military conscription avoid mobilization.

According to the investigation, through acquaintances he looked for men who violated military registration rules and offered his “services.” The suspect claimed to have influence over officials of one of the district TCC and SP of the Mykolaiv region and members of the military-medical commission.

For 6–8 thousands of US dollars he promised to secure the liable person’s removal from search, and subsequently help avoid mobilization due to health conditions.

The serviceman was detained after receiving the second part of the money.

He was notified of suspicion of illegal benefit reception for influence on the decision of a person authorized to perform state functions (part 3 of art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). A preventive measure is being chosen.

The sanction of the article provides up to 8 years of imprisonment.

The investigation identifies other persons who may be involved in the scheme.

The measures were conducted with the assistance of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, and the Internal Security Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Military Service Law and Order.

Procedural leadership is carried out by the Mykolaiv Special Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Southern region.
