Oleshky under occupation: Prokudin spoke about the humanitarian situation and the winter

Oleksandr Pokrudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, spoke about the situation in the temporarily occupied Holykh and other settlements on the left-bank of Kherson region. According to him, fewer than two thousand people remain in Holykh, effectively under a humanitarian blockade due to the lack of established evacuation routes.

Pokrudin spoke about this to journalist Galina Ostapovets from Novyny.LIVE in the foyer of the Carpathian Summit C8.

How many people remain under occupation

According to Pokrudin, in total in the settlements that are in similar conditions about 7 thousand people remain. In Holykh there are fewer than two thousand.

The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration noted that Russian troops do not allow civilians to leave, which leaves people effectively blocked. At the same time, Ukrainian volunteers from Save Ukraine help evacuate residents in small groups.

“We see bodies lying on the streets, no one buries them. People are simply surviving,” said Pokrudin.

Assistance delivered by drones

According to the head of the Kherson OVA, the Ukrainian side is also trying to transmit essentials to residents using drones.

“Most of the things we deliver by drones: medicines and food,” noted Pokrudin.

At the same time, he said that Russian troops shoot down drones used for humanitarian missions. Because of this, Ukraine loses resources that could be used for other tasks.

What the winter might be like

Pokrudin emphasized that the current situation is partly sustained by the harvest from gardens that people were able to gather earlier. But with the approach of cold weather, the condition of civilians, he said, could deteriorate sharply.

“Now winter is coming — this will generally be, most likely, a total tragedy,” said the head of the Kherson OVA.

What is known about the situation in Holykh

Recall that earlier Novyny.LIVE reported that Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Syrian (Andriy Sybiha) stated about a humanitarian catastrophe in the temporarily occupied left-bank Kherson region. According to him, Russia blocks the delivery of food and medicines, hinders the work of humanitarian missions and civilian evacuation. Ukraine called for the creation of a humanitarian corridor to aid the people.

Novyny.LIVE also reported that the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations stated about the critical humanitarian situation in the occupied Holykh on Kherson region and urged facilitating civilian evacuation and conducting an international humanitarian mission.
