EU approved allocation of 6,6 billion euros from the European Peace Facility for weapons for Ukraine

The European Union countries reached an agreement on the conditions for allocating 6,6 billion euros from the European Peace Facility for further military support to Ukraine.

As reported by Dilo, EU foreign and security policy chief and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Cathy (Kaya) Calallas wrote about this on her X account.

According to her, 900 million euros of this amount will be directed to supporting the EU Mission to provide military assistance to Ukraine.

Another one billion euros is provided for financing new joint purchases of necessary equipment.

The rest, 4,7 billion euros, will go to reimburse expenses of member states, some of whom have already expressed readiness to direct their share directly to the needs of Ukrainian defense.

Calallas stressed that Moscow’s attempts to intimidate Europe with hybrid attacks to curb support will fail, because the EU is acting in the opposite way.

It is expected that this aid package will be finally approved by defense ministers of EU member states during the EU Council meeting on Monday, although the details of the distribution of 4,7 billion among the member states themselves and the exact amount ultimately reaching Ukraine remain under discussion.

As a reminder, in July Ukraine appealed to the European Union to direct 6,6 billion euros from the European Peace Facility to military assistance, hoping to use the "window of opportunity" on the battlefield for a duration of 6–9 months.
