Central authorities for 4,5 years have failed to defend Kyiv's sky, and now hinder the city’s revival after the shelling, - expert

This was stated by expert on social and economic policy Pavlo Rozhenko.

“Now they tell me how Kyiv prepared for the war and for winter. But why, for 4,5 years, do we have Shahed drones freely flying over Kyiv? And we don’t have either an air defense system to destroy them, nor a missile defense system? Is Klitschko to blame for Shahed drones flying over Kyiv and continuing to hammer our infrastructure? Kyiv is rebuilding, drones are destroying. And let’s ask why the government blocked all transfers to local budgets a month ago, including for works to protect Kyiv’s infrastructure,” said Pavlo Rozhenko.

He noted that instead of supporting local communities, the central authorities block their funds, while at the same time spending money, in particular, on a telethon.

“A month, all settlements were blocked, and all enterprises stopped their activities because they had no funds. So are we in the same boat or not? Should we fund the telethon and 1000 hryvnias of corruption for 4 billion UAH? And funding for local self-government has been cut off. This is not only about Kyiv, it’s about all of Ukraine,” the expert noted.

At the same time Rozhenko reported that despite the government’s blocking of funds for the capital, Kyiv is quickly recovering after shelling thanks to the actions of the city authorities, utilities, and energy workers.
