VAKS Removed the Electronic Bracelet from Former Energy Minister Galushchenko

The High Anti-Corruption Court removed the electronic bracelet from the former energy minister.

The HACC did not disclose his name, but according to RBC-Ukraine’s sources, it concerns Herman Galushchenko. On Thursday, 22 October, the court partially granted the motion of the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP). It extended the period of the procedural obligations imposed on the former minister for 2 months. The former minister remains obligated to: appear at every request to the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), SAP prosecutors, the investigating judge or the court—depending on the stage of proceedings; not to leave the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region without permission from NABU detectives and SAP prosecutors; notify NABU detectives and SAP prosecutors if his place of residence changes; refrain from communication with designated persons; surrender to the State Migration Service of Ukraine all his foreign passports and other documents granting him the right to travel abroad if he has not already done so. At the same time, the investigating judge did not extend the obligation to wear the electronic monitoring device. What is known about Galushchenko’s bail As RBC-Ukraine reported, in June the entire bail amount of 150 million hryvnias was paid for Galushchenko. Part of this money, according to the Schemes project, was contributed by two private companies. Later, SAP head Oleksandr Kylymenko said that prosecutors demand the arrest of these 150 million hryvnias due to possible criminal origin of the funds. According to him, if the court grants the motion, Galushchenko could be sent back to custody.

We also wrote that SAP will more carefully verify the origin of funds that are deposited as bail for defendants in corruption cases. For this, prosecutors will immediately refer to the Financial Monitoring Service, even without registering separate proceedings.
