There are 8 days left to form the commission to select the SBI director, but the reform law still hasn’t been submitted to the Rada

The commission to select a new SBI director must be formed by 31 October, yet the competition rules still haven’t been changed. The current controversial head of the Bureau, Oleksiy Sukhachov, will complete his five-year term at the end of December.

As Texty.org.ua write, the bill to reform the SBI promised by President Zelensky in January still hasn’t been submitted to the Rada.

If the new competition is held under the current legislation, international experts will not have a decisive vote. The next director will receive a five-year mandate, and new rules for his selection could be applied only in 2031–2032 years. At the same time, Ukraine has committed to reform the SBI under the Ukraine Facility program by the end of 2026.
