France Goes to Abu Dhabi: What Ukraine, the United States, and Russia Will Discuss

France will participate in trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia in Abu Dhabi. Paris insists that Europe’s position be taken into account during discussions about the future of the continent.

France will join the talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, which are set to take place in Abu Dhabi. This was stated on Sunday, 8 November, by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on the RTL radio broadcast.

Paris plans to be a direct participant in the discussions on the Russia-Ukraine war and will press for Europe’s interests to be properly represented.

According to the head of the French Foreign Ministry, his country will certainly attend the meeting. At the same time, he did not specify yet who will represent Paris at the negotiating table. “France will travel to Abu Dhabi to take part in these discussions. I can’t yet say who will represent France at this meeting, but France will undoubtedly be there,” Barre emphasized.

The minister also stressed that European countries have stepped up their efforts in recent weeks to ensure that their position is heard by American mediators. In his words, Europe should not stand aside from decisions that will directly affect its future.

“No discussions about the continent’s future can ignore our expectations and demands,” Le Drian said.

He added that France will insist that Europe’s voice be heard, since European countries are the ones most directly feeling the consequences of the war.

Earlier Russia announced the composition of its delegation for talks with Ukraine, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in Abu Dhabi under U.S. mediation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the delegation will be headed by Putin’s adviser Vladimir Medinsky.
