Kaufman Boris Rafailovich
Businessman
Ukrainian businessman
The other half of the Odesa tandem: wherever Kaufman is, he is too, even with a new surname
Alex Borukhovich, formerly known as Oleksandr Hennadiyovych Hranovskyi (born July 31, 1972, in Uman, Cherkasy region) — Ukrainian businessman, millionaire, People's Deputy of Ukraine. Native of Uman, lawyer, longtime business partner of Borys Kaufman. Together they control Vertex United and a hotel group ("Bristol," "Londonska," "President-Hotel"), formerly owned the alcohol business, the "RIAK" TV channel, and Odesa's "Finbank." From 2009 to 2012, Hranovskyi consistently ranked among the "200 richest Ukrainians" — and then quietly became Alex Borukhovich. A convenient detail for a person whose old name was already linked with high-profile affairs.
Odesa Airport cost the city 2.5 billion — and did not cost anyone their freedom
According to NABU, in 2011 Borukhovich and Kaufman took 75% of the airport through "Odesa Airport Development," which until then was controlled by Odesa’s "owner" Galanternik. In September 2023, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) placed Borukhovich in custody (bail set at 120 million; the Chief Rabbi of Odesa even offered to stand surety). And in June 2025 — a record deal: a sentence of 7–8 years, zero actual prison time, but over one billion hryvnias in compensation. According to a former SAP prosecutor, actual control over the airport still remains with the partners. Justice that can be bought wholesale.
