Last compartment of the 13th carriage
Hennadiy Boholiubov is the former co-owner of PrivatBank (41.6%), second after Kolomoiskyi in the informal "Privat" group. On the night of June 24, 2024, at 03:55, Boholiubov boarded the Kyiv–Kholmsk train wearing a baseball cap and glasses and crossed the border using the passport of 67-year-old Volyn region resident Mykola Kupriyanovych Syumak, who lost his foreign passport in spring 2022. The shift chief at the Yagodyn border checkpoint, Makarenko, personally entered the compartment and ordered a subordinate not to check documents in the last carriage compartment. Boholiubov was brought to the railway station by former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Emine Dzhaparova—his wife. Following the scandal, she resigned.
International wanted status — and a $100 million bribe
The Ministry of Internal Affairs declared Boholiubov wanted as a "person evading pre-trial investigation bodies." The disappearance date is recorded as July 10, 2024. The Office of the Prosecutor General is preparing an extradition request. According to ZN.ua, Boholiubov is ready to speak about an offer to pay a $100 million bribe in exchange for closing criminal proceedings. Currently, he resides in an elite district of Vienna. In February 2025, the National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions against him—asset blocking and complete suspension of trade operations. The $3 billion awarded by the London court remains unpaid.
