Boxer, graduated from the Prykarpattia branch of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Since 2003 — criminal investigation in Vinnytsia and Haisyn. Since 2010 — head of the criminal investigation unit of the linear department at Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station. Transferred to the Internal Security Department of the SBU. On September 11, 2019, Zelensky appointed him head of the SBU in Mykolaiv region — a rapid career leap without the traditional experience required for such a position. In 2018, he became an advisor to the head of the SBU; in 2020, he submitted a resignation report due to conflicts with Bakan and Naumov.

Fuel scheme worth 90 million UAH, "Novopecherski Lypky" property registered to mother-in-law, and Prosecutor General’s Office suspicion of illegal enrichment

In 2020, Watchdogs established that in 2019, just after his appointment, Hersak closed a case regarding the company "Kim Trading" — a producer of counterfeit diesel fuel in Kyiv worth 90 million UAH; the company is connected to his family partners. No charges were brought in this case. In July 2021, Hersak's mother-in-law, having no official income, purchased an apartment and several units in the residential complex "Novopecherski Lypky" and shortly thereafter gifted them to his wife, who granted him the right to manage the property. The discrepancy between the family's legal income and the value of assets is 22.6 million UAH. The Prosecutor General’s Office notified Hersak of suspicion under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code (illegal enrichment).
