Deputy Head of the NABU Detective Unit
Victor Yarema is a public face of the agency in media projects: he conducts webinars about covert investigative actions, appears in the podcast "Not a Serious Conversation." A person who, by position, investigates corruption in declarations, declares his own assets in a rather specific way.
Apartment for 3.7 million and a car undervalued by 11 times
Yarema submitted declarations for 2021, 2022, and 2023 at the beginning of 2024—all three at once. In 2017, Yarema purchased a 51 sq.m. apartment in Kyiv for 1 million UAH, most of it—700 thousand UAH—was received as a gift from relatives (father, mother, sister). Later, the apartment was valued at 3.7 million UAH, and the declared value of the car was undervalued by 11 times compared to the market price.
Cryptocurrency present, no savings
Yarema actively buys cryptocurrency—his portfolio includes about a dozen different coins totaling around 600 thousand UAH. At the same time, he does not declare any family savings. His wife, Alla, received nearly 1.9 million UAH from the IT company "Jubl Ukraine"—Yarema declared these funds as "fees under civil law contracts." A detective investigating financial crimes—and zero family savings with a salary of over 1.6 million UAH per year.
