Former Deputy Mayor of Mariupol from OPZZH
A Mariupol official whose biography turned out to be inextricably linked with a person who became a symbol of the annexation of Crimea. He studied at the Pryazovskyi State Technical University, then obtained a second degree in accounting and auditing. Since 2006 — head of the Primorsky district administration of Mariupol, 2009–2015 — deputy mayor. In 2015 he ran for the Mariupol city council from "Our Land", in 2020 — from OPZZH, where he led the faction.
Ex-husband of Poklonskaya
He is the ex-husband of Natalia Poklonskaya — the "Prosecutor of Crimea," one of the key figures of the 2014 annexation. After the divorce, Poklonskaya remained in Crimea and sided with Russia. Klimenko retained his Mariupol registration and continued his career in local government — but from OPZZH, which is telling in itself.
Candidate for Mayor, OPZZH, and death in Germany
In 2020, he ran for mayor of Mariupol — took second place, losing to Boychenko. Deputy of the Mariupol City Council 2020–2022. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he left the city. On February 10, 2025, Mariupol Mayor's Advisor Petro Andriushchenko announced his death in Germany.
