Head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office — appointed by Kostin in July 2024

He has worked in the prosecution authorities since 2009. He held leadership positions in the prosecutor's offices of Odesa and Lviv regions. From March 2023 to July 2024, he was the head of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sphere of the Western region. On July 29, 2024, he was appointed head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.

Extortion of entrepreneurs through criminal proceedings

According to sources, Meret, together with his deputies, is involved in extorting entrepreneurs. The scheme works as follows: a criminal case is registered, for example under the article "fraud," after which the entrepreneur is blackmailed. For closing the case, they demand either money or — if the entrepreneur is engaged in construction — the real estate object. According to sources, the deputies themselves in private conversations refer to Meret as the organizer of the scheme.

In early April 2026 — during Meret’s leadership — a prosecutor of one of the district prosecutor's offices in Lviv was detained on suspicion of demanding a bribe of 5,000 US dollars. Details of the case and the name of the detainee were not disclosed.
