MP from "Servant of the People" party, convicted for bribing patrol officers at the scene of an accident

People's Deputy of the 9th convocation from the "Servant of the People" party. On August 23, 2021, Oleksandr Trukhyn was involved in a traffic accident on the Poltava — Kyiv highway, in which six people were injured. According to media reports, the MP was under the influence of alcohol; initially, he claimed he was not driving. A video from a police officer's body camera, released by "Ukrainian Truth" in February 2022, recorded Trukhyn attempting to leave the accident scene, assuring the officer that he "could resolve the issue" with Minister Monastyrskyi, and then offered a "150 thousand bonus" that was in the car. A person who was traveling with him took responsibility for the accident — she was fined 850 UAH.

Deal with the investigation, admission of guilt, and 2 million UAH for drones instead of imprisonment

On September 7, 2022, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) handed Trukhyn a suspicion notice for offering a bribe to an official. The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) set bail at 49,600 UAH. Trukhyn left the "Servant of the People" party chats and suspended his membership in the faction, then failed to appear at court hearings twice — initially "due to COVID," then "due to a business trip." Ultimately, he entered into a plea agreement: HACC approved the agreement, found Trukhyn guilty of attempting to bribe police officers, and obliged him to transfer 2 million UAH for drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On February 23, the Verkhovna Rada voted for the early termination of his powers.
