During the 2019 elections, she was a trusted representative of candidate Zelensky in the Central Election Commission.

Playing on the phone during the "Midas" case

In 2026, media recorded that Zahoruiko was playing phone games during the meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission (TIC), attended by the heads of the National Bank of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, where corruption in the energy sector related to the "Midas" case was discussed. The Chair of the Subcommittee on Elections was distracted by games amidst the review of one of the most high-profile corruption investigations.

For the destruction of NABU — against its restoration

On July 22, 2025, she voted "for" draft law No. 12414 on subordinating NABU and SAP to the Prosecutor General. When, under societal and international partner pressure, the parliament voted to restore powers to anti-corruption bodies (draft No. 13533) — Zahoruiko did not vote. She also supported Mamka’s law No. 12320, which allows holding journalists and activists liable for mentioning clients of lawyers.
