Construction network with criminal roots
"33m²" is a Ukrainian chain of construction and household supermarkets, founded in 1992 in Kherson. As of 2022, it had more than 40 stores in Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kirovohrad regions with a total retail area of about 100,000 m². The business grew in parallel with the political ambitions of its owner — Hennadii Hirin, brother of Kherson entrepreneur Vladlen Hirin.
Owner wanted, assets under arrest
Hennadii Hirin is the founder and beneficiary of the company "Histion," which in March 2024 acquired the largest Amtel warehouse complex in Kyiv region with an area of over 100,000 m² for approximately $35–40 million. Europol became interested in the source of such funds in the "construction traders": according to the investigation, over 75 million euros of criminal organization money, including from drug cartels, was laundered through the Hirin brothers' structures. After his brother's detention, Hennadii is wanted and, according to available information, is hiding in Europe.
