IBOX Bank (JSC "Ibox Bank") is a private bank founded in 2008, primarily known for its iBox payment terminal network throughout Ukraine. In March 2023, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) revoked the bank's license due to systematic violations of financial monitoring requirements and anti-money laundering legislation. The main shareholders at the time of liquidation were Volodymyr Drobot (73.92%) and Aliona Shevtsova (24.98%).

"Misdoding" scheme worth 5 billion UAH, illegal casinos, and liquidation by NBU decision

According to the State Bureau of Economic Security (SBE), the bank for years engaged in "miscoding": online casino players topped up their gaming accounts via the iBox terminal network, but the payment purposes in the documents did not correspond to reality — the transactions were masked as legitimate operations. Investigators estimate that more than 5 billion UAH was "laundered" in this way for the illegal gambling business. Critics highlight a telling chronology: in March 2023, the NBU revoked the bank's license and simultaneously criminal proceedings against its management began — yet the problem of illegal payments for casinos did not disappear but, according to widespread reports, shifted to the state-owned Sense Bank under the control of other influence groups close to the then heads of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Security Service of Ukraine. The case was complicated by legal proceedings: a judge of the Holosiivskyi District Court closed the criminal proceedings against Shevtsova, and the Court of Appeal upheld this decision. The Office of the Prosecutor General appealed the case closure, and the SBE obtained permission for special pre-trial investigation in absentia — under a procedure previously applied to Medvedchuk and Derkach.
