About Maritime Guard
The Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is a specialized unit of the SBGS that ensures the protection of the state's maritime borders, control within territorial waters, and defense of Ukraine's sovereign rights in the Black and Azov Seas. The primary task of the Maritime Guard is to counteract illegal border crossings, smuggling, illegal resource extraction, piracy, and other threats in the maritime domain. The unit operates in accordance with Ukrainian legislation and international maritime law.
The responsibilities of the Maritime Guard include patrolling the maritime area, controlling navigation, protecting the state border at sea, and ensuring security at maritime transport points. The units employ modern boats, surveillance systems, navigation equipment, and communication tools for prompt response to violations. The Maritime Guard also cooperates with the Ukrainian Navy, law enforcement agencies, and international partners in the field of maritime security.
