Territorial Defense

The Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine — a separate branch of forces within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, established to ensure the defense of the state's territory, protect the population, and maintain security in the country's regions. The primary task of the Territorial Defense is to strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine, guard strategic facilities, support public order, and participate in repelling armed aggression. Territorial Defense units are formed based on territorial principles and operate in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine and legislation in the field of national security and defense.

The functions of the Territorial Defense Forces include guarding critical infrastructure facilities, ensuring population safety, organizing the defense of populated areas, and supporting units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Territorial Defense units participate in eliminating the consequences of emergency situations, conduct patrolling, assist in maintaining public order, and cooperate with other military and law enforcement agencies. An important area of activity is preparing citizens for national resistance and strengthening the defensive readiness of the regions.

Under current conditions, the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine play a crucial role in enhancing state security, maintaining stability, and protecting citizens from modern threats. The activities of the Territorial Defense are aimed at increasing Ukraine’s defense capacity, ensuring rapid response to dangers, and supporting the nation's resilience.
