Based on materials from the SBU, two members of a Russian sabotage-and-reconnaissance group that operated in several regions of Ukraine received life imprisonment.

On the evidentiary basis of the Security Service, two members of an FSB sabotage-and-reconnaissance group that the SBU neutralized in the Kyiv region in June 2024 received life imprisonment with confiscation of property. A third perpetrator from the same group was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation found that members of the enemy cell operated jointly in different regions of Ukraine under the direction of an employee of the Russian special services.

Under his instructions the agents monitored facilities of Ukraine’s energy and military infrastructure that Russia was preparing missile strikes against.

In addition, they sought out and recruited potential spotters for the FSB, as well as perpetrators for commissioned sabotage and terrorist acts.

The investigation found that the organizer of the agent group is a resident of Obukhiv district, Kyiv region, who was recruited by the enemy. He came to the attention of Russian intelligence officers when he posted anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram channel chats.

Later the agent involved his brother and another relative in cooperation with Russia. The traitors then set fire to equipment at four substations in the capital region.

The enemy accomplices also planned to derail a freight train of Ukrzaliznytsia in the Kyiv region.

However, SBU officers detained all three traitors at the early stage of preparing this sabotage.

Searches of the detainees turned up seven pistols with ammunition, combat grenades, drugs, and smartphones containing evidence of work for the FSB.

Based on the evidence collected by Security Service investigators, the court found the agents guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

▪️ part 2 art. 28, part 2 art. 111 (state treason, committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons under martial law);

▪️ part 2 art. 28, part 2 art. 113 (sabotage, committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons under martial law);

▪️ part 1 art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosive substances);

▪️ part 2 art. 309 (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, or sending of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogues, committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons).

The investigation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Obukhiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
