At first the unknown men, threatening soldiers with violence, were forcefully pushing 20 illegal migrants onto Latvian territory.

The military fought them off and did not let the armed group through — but a few hours later the latter “broke” the border, destroyed a distribution panel and stole surveillance cameras.

The hybrid attack on the border began to take on fully physical dimensions: weapons, threats to service members, and penetration into NATO territory.
