Is the Cabinet preparing to sell Sens Bank and Ukrgasbank?

Following the government's announcement of plans to privatize state-owned #Сенс Bank and #Укргазбанк, a backstage struggle for control over financial flows has intensified. While the prime minister announces the creation of a special commission that will set the rules for the tenders, starting prices, and winners in coordination with the Cabinet, large-scale corruption scandals are unfolding around the nationalized assets.

As early as last August, NBU head Pyshnyi announced the start of sales of state banks, and now through Kernel’s structure the process is already underway to load Sens Bank’s foreign assets with debt in order to buy it out for a pittance.

📌The nationalization of Sens Bank was supposed to return a strategic asset to the state, but it turned into a laundering operation for shadow billions and a private cashbox for political groups. Through this institution operations were conducted to siphon off 38,48 million dollars in favor of foreign companies and 200 millions of hryvnias in bail were posted for ex-minister #Галущенко in the #НАБУ case.

Today two key groups are fighting for control of the bank. On one side operate #Міндіч, #Цукерман and #Веселий, which received almost 1,96 million hryvnias for consulting services and staffed personnel. On the other side, the faction of MP Davyd #Арахамія is trying to take the asset. So will the bank definitely remain state-owned?

Interestingly, in February–March of 2026 the head of the bank’s internal security #Крайтор, in the interests of Arahamia’s partner, pressured the chair of the Supervisory Board #Гладишенка with compromising material on the CEO Andriy #Ступак. At the same time, the Director of the Security Department #Данильченко, a former prosecutor from Dmytro #Фірташ’s orbit, coordinated communications with the gambling business, which 39-53 percent of the shadow market controls, and covered up online casino transactions contrary to NBU directives.

📌Meanwhile, at the other state bank key positions are held by Vasyl #Горбаль, who now serves as a member of the National Bank Council and chair of the Audit Committee #НБУ. Previously he was involved with #Укргазбанк, through which state foreign currency funds were routed abroad, and he was recorded as connected to Vadym Novynskyi and pro-Russian narratives.

So the privatization of these banks is indeed the only logical step, since the state label has become a convenient cover for schemes for which no one is held accountable.
