The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry addressed the French over Mendel's interview criticizing Zelensky

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Heorhiy Tykhyi appealed to the French media over an interview given by former presidential press secretary Yulia Mendel to the newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche that criticized Volodymyr Zelensky.

Tykhyi compared Mendel to Russian propagandist Ksenia Fedorova, for whom the French Ministry of the Interior issued a deportation order.

“The former presidential press secretary left her team many years ago. Since then she has acquired a dubious reputation, making numerous manipulative statements that systematically echo Russian propaganda narratives. In view of her recent appearances in the French media, we call on journalists to be extremely vigilant. Do not allow yourselves to be misled by statements that in no way reflect the real situation in Ukraine. She cannot be considered a reliable source, but rather a new voice willing to replace Ksenia Fedorova, who rightly should be expelled,” Tykhyi wrote in French on his X.

In an interview with the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, Yulia Mendel called Volodymyr Zelensky “the main beneficiary of this war.” She published a translation of the conversation on her Facebook.

11 in May Mendel gave a critical interview to American conservative journalist Tucker Carlson.

24 in July Zelensky commented on that conversation for the first time, calling Mendel and Carlson “crazy people.”
