Georgiy Tikhiy urged French media not to trust statements by Julia Mendel

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine urged the French media community to approach statements by former presidential spokesperson Julia Mendel carefully and critically. The ministry emphasized that one should not allow oneself to be misled by her remarks.

This was written on the X social network by MFA spokesperson Georgiy Tikhiy.

The MFA stressed that information concerning Ukraine should be checked against official sources and that such statements should be treated with due caution.

The MFA calls on the media to be vigilant

He noted that Mendel left the president's team many years ago.

"Since then she has earned a dubious reputation, repeatedly making manipulative statements that repeatedly echo the narratives of Russian propaganda," said the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry.

In light of Mendel's recent statements in French media, Tikhiy urged journalists to be maximally vigilant.

"Do not let yourself be misled by statements that do not reflect either the real situation in Ukraine or the position of the Office of the President of Ukraine. She cannot be regarded as a reliable source — she more likely sounds like a new voice intended to take over the baton from Kseniya Zhdorova (ex-head of RT France, who was expelled from France — editor's note), for whom an expulsion order was entirely justified," said the MFA spokesperson.
