DPRK Deploys Its Rocket Unit in Russia for Attacks on Ukraine

In western Russia, deployment of a North Korean rocket unit has begun. In this way, the Kremlin plans to strengthen strikes with ballistic missiles against Ukraine.

With this warning, Andriy Chernyak, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, spoke, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Reuters.

As GUR was able to learn, the North Korean rocket unit may be equipped with 120 ballistic missiles and six launch units.

Since Ukraine currently experiences a severe shortage of modern air defense systems, Russia is trying to take advantage of this and increasingly uses ballistic missiles, which are extremely hard to intercept.

Chernyak warned that Moscow is attempting to deploy in the Voronezh region a rocket unit that will include about 90 North Korean servicemen.

According to the latest data, they will serve as part of the 112-th rocket brigade of the Russian Federation.

Pyongyang has already handed Moscow a new batch of 40 ballistic missiles KN-23 and KN-24, and also sent personnel to Russia.

Nevertheless, the final deployment configuration and the total number of missiles are planned to be agreed during high-level talks that are to take place next month.

At the same time, it is currently unknown what exact role North Korean servicemen will play in Russian missile operations.
