Stefanishina wept in court during consideration of preventive measure (video)

The High Anti-Corruption Court 5 on August considered the motion to choose a preventive measure for former Ukraine ambassador to the United States Olha Stefanishyna, who is suspected of illegal enrichment. This is reported by Glavkom, citing TSN.

During the court, the prosecutor asked to set bail in the amount of 13 million UAH. In turn, the defense counsel filed a countermotion and asked to reduce the bail to 10 million UAH.

Stefanishyna, during the court session, noted that she does not have the necessary funds to contribute such bail, after which she cried.

“Therefore, from the ‘mythical money’ that, in the view of the prosecution, may be available to me, I cannot secure the bail with my own funds in the proposed amount,” Stefanishina said.

As a reminder, 5 August, former deputy prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration and former ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Olha Stefanishina received a new suspicion for three episodes. The charges include illegal enrichment, and two instances of providing false information in the declaration. In particular, the episode regarding illegal enrichment is related to the purchase of two apartments in the Kyiv residential complex “Fayna Town.” The investigation believes that the property with a total value of 13,9 million UAH was arranged through a close friend of the accused.

In addition, law enforcement accuses Stefanishina of concealing facts of using other property and undeclared assets. The prosecutor emphasized that the charged article on illegal enrichment provides punishment of up to 10 years of imprisonment.

As reported, in 2025 year, journalists from Hromadske published an investigation into the wealth of Stefanishina’s family. In particular, they drew attention to discrepancies between the data of her declarations and information from state registries regarding her mother's real estate.

At that time Stefanishina claimed that her parents invested in an apartment in the Lvivska Ploshcha residential complex in Kyiv back in 2019 year, when one square meter cost 29 thousand UAH. She alleged that is why the price of housing turned out almost four times lower than market.

It is worth noting that as early as 2020 year Olha Stefanishina received a suspicion in the NABU case, in which also figures former Minister of Justice of Viktor Yanukovych Olena Lukash. Despite this, Stefanishina held positions as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Minister of Justice, and later was appointed ambassador of Ukraine to the United States.

By the way, recently the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Olha Stefanishina from the post of ambassador of Ukraine to the United States. However, she called the dismissal her own decision.
