Manganese several days without drinking water: prime minister promised tough decisions

In Manganese and neighboring communities in Dnipropetrovsk region, potable water supply has been absent for several consecutive days due to an accident on the main water pipeline. This was reported by “Glavcom” citing a statement by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.

“This is the result of an accident on the main water pipeline, as well as incomplete and untimely response by responsible officials. Tough conclusions will be drawn in the near future,” emphasized the head of government.

Serhiy Koretskyi stressed that he expects full involvement from the head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA, Oleksandr Hanzha, and a resolution of the water supply issue for residents today.

The prime minister’s main directives:

Carry out urgent measures to accelerate repairs of equipment on the main water pipeline;

Ensure the supply of technical water in the region;

Organize delivery of drinking water for the local population.

The process of restoring water supply has been directly coordinated since yesterday by Minister of Infrastructure Mykola Kalashnyk.

Earlier it was reported that as a result of another enemy attack in Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region, more than 55 thousand consumers were left without power. This was reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA, Oleksandr Hanzha.

Hanzha noted that energy service specialists have already begun emergency restoration work and are making every effort to restore electricity in residents’ homes as quickly as possible.

As Serhiy Sukhomlyn, head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development, told “Glavcom” in an interview, since the end of winter it has been possible to build shelters for more than 130 facilities (electrical substations, water utility facilities, large district heating companies, boiler houses) in front-line territories.

“A few facilities remain to be completed, which are either under construction or will not be built at all due to proximity (15–20 kilometers) to the front line. It is simply impossible to carry out work there because the kill zone is quite large,” he clarified.
