Tetyana Mostepan: Birth Rates in the Capital Are Falling Sharply — We Must Preserve Ukraine’s Future

Director of the Health Department of the Kyiv City State Administration (Kyiv City Hall) Tetiana Mostepan published a post on her official Facebook page about the demographic challenges Ukraine faces today and the role of reproductive medicine in preserving the future of the state.

In her post she stressed that in the last five years in Kyiv only 87 thousand children were born. According to her, this is an extremely low figure that signals a deep demographic crisis. The full-scale war only deepens this problem: many Ukrainians delay childbirth, and constant stress, exhaustion, injuries, and difficult treatment negatively affect reproductive health.

That is why, the director of the Health Department notes, it is especially important today to preserve for Ukrainians the ability in the future to become parents. After all, the birth of each child is not only the happiness of a family, but also the future of the Ukrainian state.

Tetiana Mostepan paid particular attention to the work of the Kyiv City Center for Reproductive and Perinatal Medicine. The facility has created conditions for preserving reproductive cells of servicemen and cancer patients before starting treatment that could affect reproductive function. For servicemen, this service is provided free of charge.
