Bureaucratic Hysteria or Business Interests: Dismissed Head of Odesa TUEB Serhii Muntyan Stages Revolt Over a Comma in Documents

Legend of Odesa’s economic “detective” Serhii Muntyan, whose rapid operations are known from the Orlivka checkpoint all the way to the “7 kilometer” market and in whose honor they’re already planning to name some street in the Southern Palmyra, does not agree with his dismissal as head of the Odesa Territorial Unit of the BEB and is ready to challenge not only smugglers and converters but the whole system.

Being a recognized literalist of the law, Serhii Mykolaiovych found serious flaws in the notice of his dismissal and pointed them out to BEB director Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi.

Muntyan’s main complaint is the presence in the notice, besides his own name, of the surname of another dismissed head, Oleh Borysenko of the Chernivtsi Territorial Unit of the BEB.

(And indeed, who thought to put those surnames side by side)

Muntyan also disagrees with the electronic signature of the official who signed the document sent to him for acknowledgment.

The impression is that Serhii Mykolaiovych has taken the path of another Odesa legend, but at the customs service, Denys Pudryk, and will still compete to preserve his place in the system fighting for the country’s economic interests.

And besides — it’s a very lucrative business.

So smugglers and converters shouldn’t celebrate yet.

You can’t take Muntyan down that easily!
