Former Prime Minister Svyrydenko Being Considered for a New Position, Source Says

The former prime minister Yulia Sviridenko, who did not accept the offer to head the embassy in the United States, is being considered as a candidate for another position.

Recently, the member of parliament from Holos Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that Sviridenko may head Naftogaz. The former head of the company, Serhiy Koretsky, left the position due to the appointment of the prime minister instead of Sviridenko. According to a RBK-Ukraine source familiar with plans to strengthen Naftogaz’s leadership, Sviridenko is indeed being considered for this post. 'Such an option is being considered, but a decision has not been made,' the interlocutor said. The appointment of Sviridenko to Naftogaz, as noted by the RBK-Ukraine source, is linked to the need to find additional funds for the company. As Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal recently stated, under various Naftogaz scenarios, another 400 million euros will be required to purchase gas. The money is planned to be found from partners.

As a reminder, Yulia Sviridenko was dismissed from the post of prime minister at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelensky. She was offered to head Ukraine’s embassy in the United States, but she declined. In addition, after leaving the prime minister position, Sviridenko received an order from Zelensky. Along with her, Denys Shmyhal was also honored for the work as prime minister.
