Three drone strikes on Zaporizhzhia energy facility -10 August

Three drone strikes on one of Zaporizhzhia’s energy facilities inflicted by the occupiers in the night preceding 10 August. Attacks on critical infrastructure continue across the country — on the eve of the attack on critical infrastructure, Odesa region also came under fire. In addition to the energy facility, the night attack on Zaporizhzhia damaged residential buildings, garages, and cars.

The attack was reported by Andriy Stasevskyi, head of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo, in the company's Telegram channel. According to him, energy terror against Ukraine continues, and this night the power grids of Zaporizhzhia were specifically targeted.

"On one of our energy facilities that powers a significant portion of Zaporizhzhia's residents and a number of critical infrastructure facilities, the enemy drones delivered three strikes at once," said the head of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo.

Despite the nighttime, the company reacted promptly — a duty crew was immediately dispatched to the scene and fully restored power to all consumers literally within an hour after the attack.

"Our company responded to the extraordinary event as quickly as possible. So Zaporizhzhia residents simply did not have time to feel the consequences of this attack," noted Andriy Stasevskyi.

The company’s head also added that on the eve, power engineers restored electricity 1 062 to families in the regional center who had been left without light due to another enemy shelling.

Over 17 thousand consumers were left without electricity over the weekend.

Not only the attack at night 10 in August damaged the region’s networks — restoration works continued across all territory controlled by Zaporizhzhia for the entire weekend. According to Stasevskyi, a total of 30 damages to equipment were recorded on Saturday and Sunday due to attacks by enemy drones and KA-Bs (KA B's?).

"Despite constant shelling, in total more than 17 thousand consumers in 28 inhabited areas in Orikhiv, Novomykolaivska, in neighboring communities to Zaporizhzhia, and in the regional center itself, have been supplied with power again," explained Andriy Stasevskyi.

He added that experts work quickly and effectively thanks to experience gained during years of war, as well as support from the Ministry of Energy, JSC "URM" and the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration.

In the regional state administration, it was reported that the night attack on Zaporizhzhia damaged residential neighborhoods as well. Russian drones hit the territory of a garage cooperative in one district of the city. The blast wave and debris damaged two apartment buildings, and in the morning utilities began to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

Russia is preparing a new tactic of strikes on infrastructure.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal stated that Russia is preparing to target Ukraine’s water supply more precisely, not just electricity and heat as last winter.

"Living without water and sewer for more than three days is very difficult," Denys Shmyhal explained.

According to Shmyhal, the Kremlin is trying to destroy Ukraine’s energy system, weaken the economy, and undermine weapon production, and in winter — exhaust the population to force the country’s leadership to capitulate.

The consequences of Russia’s terror against energy infrastructure are felt by residents across the country.
