Ukrainian Mavic: Vyriy Industries described combat results of SLAVIC reconnaissance drone

Vyriy Industries reported the first combat results of the SLAVIC reconnaissance system and plans to scale up its production. According to the company’s CEO Oleksii Babenko, the main design principle was to make the system usable by operators without additional training.

SLAVIC is mastered without additional training The first units of the Defense Forces are already using the SLAVIC reconnaissance system in combat conditions. According to Babenko, one of the main principles during development was to create a system that DJI Mavic operators could master without extra training. "My task was that a Mavic operator, without training, could take this drone, take all the equipment, connect it and start working," Babenko said. He added that at positions where SLAVIC was already in use, after rotations new operators who had never seen the system before arrived. They were explained the operating principle by phone — and they immediately began carrying out missions. The company considers SLAVIC a new generation of reconnaissance copters, providing up to 1,5 hours of flight, and after switching to new batteries — up to 2 hours. This will allow crews to operate at greater distances from the line of contact and conduct longer reconnaissance missions. "1,5 hours of flight is already about 25 kilometers out, 25-30 kilometers of operation and another 25 kilometers back. This is a completely different level of capability compared to the Mavic," explained Oleksii Babenko. In the near future Vyriy Industries plans to publicly present SLAVIC for the first time.

In July Vyriy Industries came under scrutiny after law enforcement conducted searches at the company. The company itself stated that, ahead of the investigative actions against it and CEO Oleksii Babenko, a coordinated information campaign with manipulative accusations had been launched.
