Ukrainian rescuers in France halted fire threatening a populated area

Ukrainian rescuers eliminated fire sources in a forested area near one of the settlements in France. This is reported by Glavkom citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS).

It is noted that thanks to the swift actions of Ukrainian firefighters and support from local aviation, the spread of the blaze into the residential sector was prevented.

“The alert about the fire came from the head of the local coordination center. The fire covered about 1 hectares of forest, and due to strong gusts of wind and high air temperatures, there was a direct threat of the fire rapidly advancing deeper into the forest massif and toward civilian houses,” the message states.

To extinguish the emergency, forces and resources of the Ukrainian DSNS Combined Response Team were involved, including six fire engines. From the air, the work of ground units was coordinatively supported by three French vessels—two airplanes and one helicopter.

Thanks to coordinated actions of rescuers and aviation, the fire was fully extinguished and further spread of the blaze was stopped.

As a reminder, the Combined Response Team of Ukrainian rescuers arrived in the Gironde department of France and conducted an inspection of the hotspots of the large-scale forest fire. The fire in Gironde is considered one of the largest forest fires in modern French history.

Incidentally, Ukrainian emergencies also rescued an roe deer during the suppression of the large-scale forest fire in France.
