“Art is a cultural shield of the state”: a exhibition opened in the capital

At the Central House of Artists of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, on the eve of Independence Day, a nationwide cultural and artistic project was opened. The exhibition brings together painting, graphics, sculpture, and contemporary art objects by artists from different regions of the country.

In the works presented, artists reflect on modern Ukrainian history, the struggle for freedom, the image of the defender, spiritual values, and the memory of generations. The opening began with a minute of silence for the fallen soldiers, and participants stressed that art today is not only creativity but also a cultural shield of the state.

Oleksiy Perhamentshchyk, Deputy Head of the NSHU, emphasized that art preserves national identity, and the head of the union, Kostyantyn Cherniavskyi, in his address called the exhibition a “manifesto of resilience.” The opening also noted the need to support Ukrainian artists—from state attention to culture to active participation by patrons.

The exhibition will run until 30 August, and it can be visited daily (except Tuesday) from 12 to 00 and from 18 to 00. Admission is free.
