The National Guard received a new armored vehicle for radiation and chemical reconnaissance

Pivnenko_NGUThe National Guard of Ukraine has received a new armored vehicle for radiation and chemical reconnaissance, which will replace the outdated Soviet UAZ-469RKHB. This was reported by National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko in Telegram.

Pivnenko noted that these are the first radiation and chemical reconnaissance vehicles in Ukraine on the chassis of the armored UAT-TISA.

“This is a modern development based on the National Guard's technical assignment, with no analogues, and it has already been delivered to units of the Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Service of the National Guard,” he wrote.

Pivnenko recalled that the UAZ-469RKH B was developed in the 80-s for years on the basis of a civilian off-road vehicle without proper armor protection for the crew. Moreover, the equipment did not provide proper monitoring and threat detection.

“In the conditions of all-out war, the ability to quickly detect chemical and radiological contamination is a matter of rapid response and preserving the lives of our fighters and civilians,” the National Guard commander noted.

Pivnenko added that the Russians have repeatedly demonstrated their willingness to use prohibited chemical substances on the battlefield. In addition, he stressed that shelling of critical infrastructure facilities, including near nuclear power plants, keeps the issue of radiation monitoring extremely urgent.

The National Guard commander stated that the new complex allows for reconnaissance remotely, without putting the crew in danger, and transmits data to command in real time.
