Kyiv strengthens energy resilience: 60 MW of planned 200 MW cogeneration capacity already built

In the capital, active implementation of the Resilience Plan continues, aimed at strengthening the city’s energy independence and protecting critical infrastructure. At the briefing, Acting First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Petro Pantelyev, spoke about the intermediate results of building autonomous power sources.

According to him, as part of the comprehensive plan, by the end of this year Kyiv is planned to build cogeneration facilities with a total capacity of 200 MW. Currently, specialists have already put into operation capacities at about 60 MW. The electricity produced at these facilities is already being fed into the unified grid of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, works are ongoing in the city to strengthen the autonomy of the water supply system:

By the end of the year, it is planned to create 40 MW of reserve capacity for the water utility.

To date, 3 diesel power plants with a total capacity of 16,7 MW have already been built.

Installation and commissioning works for the remaining planned backup power facilities are ongoing and are expected to be fully completed by the end of the year.
