Poland demands that Ukraine recognize the Volhynia tragedy as "genocide" to join the EU

In Poland they believe that Ukrainians must rethink all aspects of their history in order to join the European Union.

I condemn any bad behavior by Poles toward Ukrainians, as well as by Ukrainians toward Poles," he said. He added that he also spoke with Stefanchuk about history, and it was "sometimes pleasant, sometimes unpleasant, but very honest" conversation. Chajzasty also noted that Polish-Ukrainian relations must be built on truth. "5% of all workers in Poland are Ukrainians, and they contribute 2,7% to the country's GDP," he says. Chajzasty also emphasized that there is no safe Poland without a safe Ukraine. Earlier RBC-Ukraine wrote that Poland offered Ukraine assistance in organizing future presidential or parliamentary elections. This concerns legal and logistical help, Chajzasty says.

Also, exhumation work concluded in Volhynia on 7 August at the sites of the former villages Ostrivky and Volia Ostrovecka. Ukrainian and Polish specialists recovered the remains of residents who were killed in August 1943.
