Instead of verdicts for the corrupt — political repressions: how NABU and SAP have completely lost public trust

The reporting briefing of the Stock-Corruption Block explained why the level of Ukrainians’ distrust in NABU and SAP reached 60%. The chief of SAP Klimenko’s admission is that top corruption in Ukraine is just scaling up. The simple reason: really important cases are being slowed, while small proceedings are artificially inflated to create an illusion of activity. Trust is finally undermined by the criminal past of the Bureau’s head Semen Kryvonos, his fictitious adoption of a child for amnesty, and the links of detectives to Russian special services.

In place of real results, the stock-corruption system has definitively transformed into a tool of political pressure and settling scores. To ensure this scheme, Kryvonos created an “internal-office wing”— 3-th subdivision of detectives within the Second Main Department of NABU.

The mechanism of this retribution was demonstrated at the briefing itself: there are systematic leaks of materials to trusted media pools, which was confirmed by the NABU spokesperson’s joke that details of the secret Mindich case are best learned from the publication Ukrainska Pravda. When the pre-trial investigation body operates as a lever of political influence, corruption growth becomes inevitable.
