"Ukrposhta" cancels requirement to provide taxpayer identification number for some payments

From 13 August, Ukrposhta will stop requiring the RNOKPP when paying cash for utilities, mobile services, and topping up bank cards for amounts up to 5 thousand UAH. Payments of taxes, where providing these data is necessary, remain an exception.

citing a statement by Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilianskyi.

According to him, the company will interpret the NBU resolution in such

a way that the RNOKPP is not mandatory for the relevant cash transactions. Before

implementing the changes, Ukrposhta must finish updating its IT systems and

preparing the necessary legal documents.

At the same time, when paying by bank card the RNOKPP, according to

Smilianskyi, remains mandatory, except for utility payments.

Also, from the end of the week Ukrposhta plans to mask

part of the payer's bank card number in documents for utility payments.

Smilianskyi noted that the company received the relevant clarification from

the international payment systems.

The CEO of Ukrposhta also said that

the requirements introduced after the NBU inspection led to a reduction in volumes of certain

services and caused the company to lose millions of hryvnias in profit. Ukrposhta

appealed to the regulator to be allowed to publish the results of the inspection

and the action plan on the basis of which the company previously changed its service rules.

Recall, from 1 August Ukrposhta began printing payers' personal data on paper receipts for utilities and other payments. The company explained that this is a requirement of the National Bank of Ukraine, which all providers of financial services are obliged to follow.
