“Christian Corps” passed to the Verkhovna Rada legislative proposals on veterans’ employment

Commanders of combat units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, who united in the “Christian Corps,” handed to the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada their proposals and developments regarding the quickest possible drafting and adoption of a bill on veterans’ employment. The working documents prepared by the Corps’ lawyers were sent to the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and to the leaders of all parliamentary factions and groups of the parliament.

The initiative of the “Christian Corps” consists in providing tax incentives to those enterprises where the share of veterans exceeds 30% of the total number of employees.

“The main civil task of the ‘Christian Corps’ is to show that adherence to moral commandments and Christian values can solve the biggest rear problems — bureaucracy, injustice, and social insecurity. That is why one of the Corps’ priorities became legislative initiative that will promote the integration of war veterans into peacetime life. We are convinced that love for one’s neighbor is not only words in prayer, but concrete decisions that will change the life of every person. Therefore we did not wait for someone else to take this up — we prepared a concrete document and today we are handing it over to those who have the authority to make laws,” said the commander of the Brotherhood battalion Oleksiy Seredyuk. For the first time this initiative was presented at the Christian Corps’ presentation in Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, where it received the support of military personnel, chaplains, and representatives of public organizations.

After that, the Corps brought the initiative to an open discussion, inviting all interested to a public debate.

The next step was sending letters with the working documents to the leadership and deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

“We have already said many beautiful words about respect for veterans. But sermons do not create a job, they do not pay for retraining, and they do not reimburse employers for any costs. When an entrepreneur decides whom to hire, he counts the money — and that is normal, it is his business and his risk. Therefore the instrument that can really change something must also be financial. Our proposal is exactly this: enterprises where veterans comprise at least 30 percent of employees receive tax incentives. The state does not give away anything — it simply makes the most difficult first step of employment cheaper, which benefits all sides,” emphasized the commander of the special unit “Stugna,” Dmytro Linko.

The main values for the Corps’ forces are love for God, love for one’s neighbor, brotherhood, service, and honor. The mission of the Christian Corps: to defend the state, defend the family, defend each citizen’s own business.

The Corps includes the Brotherhood Battalion (commander Oleksiy Seredyuk), the special unit “Stugna” (commander Dmytro Linko), the Tactical Group “Revenge” (unit commander “Fate”), the unit “Tradition and Order” (unit commander Kristiaan Udaro), the active action unit “Company of Jesus Christ” (unit commander “Brave”), the Drone Brotherhood, the unit of “Belarusian volunteers” (unit commander “Yanki”), the 6 special purpose detachment as part of the “Timur Special Unit,” and other combat units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The Corps’ main civilian partner is the Charity Fund for Youth Initiative “Hope.”
