"Ukrzaliznytsia" will raise wages for 150 thousands of employees

Starting from 1 September, "Ukrzaliznytsia" will raise wages for more than 150 thousand employees by 10–15%. Larger increases are planned for workers in scarce professions, and the company is obtaining additional payroll resources, in part, thanks to the indexation of freight tariffs.

Kalashnyk.

The additional funds are planned primarily to be directed to employees

who repair locomotives and cars, restore damaged infrastructure, and

ensure train operations.

According to the minister, the decision to raise wages

was discussed with railway workers, the management of "Ukrzaliznytsia",

the supervisory board, and members of parliament.

Kalashnyk also linked the review of pay to the indexation of

"Ukrzaliznytsia" freight tariffs. In his words, the additional resources

are needed by the company not only for transportation, repairs, and infrastructure restoration

after Russian attacks, but also for staff salaries.

The next stage of freight tariff indexation is planned from 1

January 2027. The ministry expects that this will allow the phased

continuation of wage increases for railway workers next year.

Recall that as early as 10 July, "Ukrzaliznytsia" reported a lack of funds to raise wages. The company's head,

Oleksandr Peretsovskyi, then noted that railway workers' pay is roughly

30% lower than the national average, and actual wage increases require

additional financial resources.

Prior to this, "Ukrzaliznytsia" proposed indexing freight tariffs by 30%. The first

stage was planned from 1 August 2026, citing rising costs and the company's accumulated

losses.
