The euro and the zloty appreciated: exchange rates for 18 August 2026

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) published the official exchange rates for the morning of Tuesday, 18 August 2026. Compared with 17 August, the dollar weakened, while the zloty and the euro strengthened. This was reported by “Glavcom.”

The regulator set the official dollar rate at 44,69, the euro at 51,80 UAH, and the Polish zloty at 12,02 UAH.

Over the week the euro, the Swiss franc and the British pound appreciated. At the same time the Polish zloty and the US dollar weakened.

Reminder: The National Bank of Ukraine approved a major update of rules for the insurance sector. The regulator revised the procedure for authorizing insurance intermediaries in the specialized Register and also adjusted requirements for the sale of insurance and reinsurance products. The innovations are intended to remove bureaucratic obstacles, address existing practical difficulties and significantly reduce administrative pressure on business.

By the way, from 4 September 2026 the National Bank of Ukraine will issue into circulation a new banknote with a denomination of 2 thousand UAH. The chair of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, commented on the possible impact of introducing the new banknote into circulation.

As reported, Ukraine’s international reserves at the beginning of August amounted to $51,19 billion. In July their volume decreased by 0,1% — from about $51,27 billion. At the same time, reserves grew by 19% year on year.
