NABU has begun investigating potentially false information in the declaration of the head of the National Bank, Valeriya Gontareva.

“Data have been entered into the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations,” a source said.

It is noted that the investigation was initiated under Art. 366-1 of the Criminal Code – “declaration of false information.”

There are no official statements on the NABU site about this yet.

As is known, in January 2017 of NABU began pre-trial investigation into the head of the NBU Valeriya Gontareva and the director-manager of the FGVFO Kostyantyn Vorushylin for signs of a criminal offense under part 3 of art. 365-2 of the Criminal Code (“abuse of power by persons providing public services”).

In February, NABU registered a proceeding regarding the published recordings of telephone conversations of Deputy Head of the NBU Kateryna Rozhkova with shareholders.

In March, the head of the NBU Valeriya Gontareva stated the intention to step down from the post of head of the NBU in the near future.

29 in March, NABU detectives conducted searches in the National Bank building, during which documents were seized. As reported by Nazar Kholodnytskyi, head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the investigative actions at the NBU are connected, among other things, with the activities of the “Platinum Bank.”
