Budanov awarded the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class (photo)

The head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov, presented His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class. As reported by Glavkom, this was announced by the UGC's press service.

The state award to the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church was conferred by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy's decree No. 532/2026 of 26 June 2026 year. The award was given for a significant contribution to strengthening Ukrainian statehood, courage and dedication in defending Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, development of public life, and conscientious performance of professional duties.

The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church expressed gratitude for the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class. He stressed that he regards this state award as an award for the entire Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

Participants in the ceremony included Deputy Head of the Office of the President Irina Vereshchuk, Bishop Yosyf Milian, the protocanone of the Kyiv Archeparchy, Bishop Stepan Sus, a bishop of the Patriarchal Curia, Bishop Vasyl Tuchapets, the Kharkiv exarch, as well as Bishop Maksym Ryabukha, the Donetsk exarch.

After the award ceremony, a conversation took place between the Ukrainian president's office leadership, the head of the UGC, and the attending bishops.

As a reminder, in June, on the occasion of Constitution Day, President Zelenskyy awarded state honors to artists, educators, athletes, politicians, and other figures from various fields.
