Zelensky Heard a Report on the Energy System

Ukraine is counting on support for the energy sector from specific states, the president noted.

President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal. The immediate needs for working with energy sector partners ahead of the heating season were identified, the head of state said in Telegram on Tuesday, 18 August.

"A report on the state of our energy sector and the immediate priorities in communications with partners. First Vice Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal informed about the state of Ukraine's energy system and the daily work of Ukrainian energy workers to eliminate the consequences of Russian strikes. I thank all industry specialists for their truly professional and selfless work," the head of state wrote.

According to Zelensky, electricity supply restoration for Ukrainian families continues daily after shellings. Special challenges exist in cities and villages in the front-line and border regions with Russia.

The president noted that the necessary stocks of equipment have already been formed.

"We have also defined tasks for working with Ukraine's partners for the near term: what political, financial, and purely technical agreements are needed now, in August, as well as in September, before the start of the heating season. We count on the support of specific states. For security reasons, we are not disclosing details at the moment," he said.

Shmyhal also reported on the strategic prospects for the development of the atomic sector, the priorities for the relevant work in Europe. Key social projects prepared for launch within the Ministry of Energy for autumn were discussed.

Recall that in the morning, due to new Russian strikes, consumers in six regions of Ukraine were de-energized. Active repair work was underway.
