Zelensky Sets Priorities for Preparing the Energy Sector for the Heating Season – Pidozra

Ukraine counts on help from specific states, but details of future agreements have not yet been disclosed for security reasons.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky listened to a briefing on the state of the energy system and identified the first-priority tasks in working with international partners ahead of the heating season. This was reported by GLavkom citing the head of state.

First Vice Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal informed the president about the current state of the energy system and the work of energy workers who are daily eliminating the consequences of Russian strikes.

“Every day, processes of restoring electricity supply for Ukrainian families continue after the shelling. The challenges are especially in frontline cities and towns near the front line and near the Russian border. It is important that the necessary equipment stocks have been formed,” Zelensky said.

During the briefing, particular attention was given to preparation for the upcoming heating season. Ukrainian authorities outlined tasks for negotiations with international partners for August and September.

“We also defined tasks for working with Ukraine’s partners in the near future: what political, financial, and purely technical agreements are needed now, in August, and also in September, before the start of the heating season. We are counting on support from specific states. For security reasons, details are not being disclosed at the moment,” the president said.

Shmyhal also reported to Zelensky on the strategic prospects for the development of Ukraine’s nuclear sector. The sides discussed the priorities of Ukraine’s work in Europe.

In addition, during the meeting they reviewed key social projects prepared for launch in the fall in the energy ministry system. The president did not provide details of these initiatives.

Reminder: Russian occupiers in autumn and winter may continue to attack Ukrainian energy, military facilities, the defense-industrial complex, logistics, and gas stations. According to military intelligence, the list of main targets of Russian attacks has not significantly changed. The most vulnerable in the winter period remain the electric power sector and the heating system.
