SBU detains owner of Kyiv region business group suspected of cooperating with the Russian Federation

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained the owner of a Kyiv-region business group suspected of cooperating with the Russian Federation.

The SBU stated that it uncovered the owners of an industrial group of companies from the Kyiv region who, according to investigators, supplied materials for making anti-drone nets to Russia.

One of the defendants was detained in Kyiv, while his son, who is in Russia, received an indictment in absentia. This was reported by the SBU on Telegram.

The case concerns a business group that includes 39 Ukrainian enterprises. They specialize in producing roofing and façade products.

The investigation established that the actual owners of the structure are a Ukrainian businessman and his son. Even before the full-scale invasion, the younger defendant left for Russia, where he controls two companies in Belgorod and Reutov. According to the SBU, these enterprises effectively operate as branches of the Ukrainian business group.

In Russia, the companies are engaged in the production of metal structures. Among their orders, as the authorities claim, were supplies of anti-drone nets for the Russian Investigative Committee.

Additionally, according to the investigation, the defendants financed Russian aggression by paying taxes to the Russian budget and making direct investments in the country’s military-industrial complex.

To transfer funds, they first moved profits from the Ukrainian business to offshore companies controlled by fictitious individuals. After that, the money was transferred to accounts of controlled enterprises in Russia.

The court chose to detain the suspect in custody without the possibility of bail. There are also plans to seize his property and accounts in Ukraine. According to the SBU, these include 30 apartments, 20 parking spaces, and 29 vehicles.

The detained man's son, who is in Russia, was also notified of the suspicion in absentia under the same article. Measures are underway to bring him to accountability.
