According to the case materials, the incident occurred 9 January 2026 at about 12:00 in Kurortnyi Lane in Odesa. The recruitment center servicemen — a senior soldier and a junior sergeant — stopped the man to check documents, including his ID and military registration documents. However, he refused to show them, after which he produced an object resembling a firearm and fired at the servicemen at least three times.
As a result of the shooting, both servicemen sustained gunshot wounds. One was injured in the area of his right forearm, and the other in his right thigh. After committing the act, the man left the scene.
