Supplement to pensions for non-working Ukrainians: who can receive 1 300 UAH monthly

Some pensioners are entitled to additional money each month. Payments are granted upon application to non-working citizens from among former servicemembers. The amount of the monetary provision is 50% of the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost capacity to work. We have explained who is entitled to an increased pension and how to receive the funds in 2026.

Additional pension payments in Ukraine

The right to monetary provision in addition to a disability pension or a pension for length of service belongs to non-working citizens who have non-working family members dependent on them. The list of such relatives is defined by article 30 of the law “On pension provision for persons released from military service and certain other persons.”

Payments are assigned for each such relative provided that they do not receive:

a pension under the solidarity system;

state social assistance for persons who are not entitled to a pension, and for persons with disabilities;

assistance for persons with disabilities from childhood and for children with disabilities;

support for children of single mothers.

“If there are two or more pensioners, each non-working family member who is dependent on their joint support is counted for awarding the supplement to only one of the pensioners, by their choice,” the official PFU website clarified.

What the supplement amount is and how to get it

The size of additional pension payments for non-working servicemembers released from service is 50% of the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost capacity to work. In 2026 the amount is 1 297,50 UAH per month, since the SM is set at 2 595 UAH.

To have the funds assigned you must apply to the Pension Fund with an appropriate application and a package of documents, namely:

passport;

identification number;

evidence of cohabitation;

marriage certificate or birth certificate (to confirm family ties with the breadwinner);

a court decision establishing the fact that the non-working family member is dependent;

evidence of lack of employment or other activity that generates income;

a document on dismissal from service.

Note that the pension supplement is not assigned automatically, because the controlling authority lacks the necessary information. Ukrainians must independently apply to the PFU and wait for the result of the verification, on the basis of which a decision is made about payment of the due amount.

What else Ukrainians should know

Earlier Novyny.LIVE wrote that pensions of Ukrainians who have the same length of service and paid the same contributions can differ greatly. In some cases the gap between amounts of monetary provision is almost 75%. The reason is simple — an unfair calculation formula.

Novyny.LIVE also reported whether 20 years of service is enough for Ukrainians to retire. It depends on the person's age: in 2026 it is enough to have from 15 years of insurance record if the person has turned 65 years old. Otherwise the state will assign social assistance.
