Will Igor Kostyuk be fired? Dynamo Kyiv's CEO sets the record straight

Dynamo Kyiv's chief executive officer Dmytro Briff commented on the rumors about possible changes on the coaching staff of the capital club. This is reported by Glavkom, with reference to dynamo.kiev.ua.

“The Dynamo head coach, Igor Kostyuk, has a credit of trust from the club president, Ihor Surkis. Ihor Mykhailovych believes that the current manager is capable of bringing the team to the appropriate level of competitiveness, and hopes this will happen soon. Therefore, the question of replacing the head coach is not on the agenda at the moment,” Briff said.

Igor Kostyuk has been leading Dynamo since November 2025 year.

Recall that Kyiv’s Dynamo lost to Karabakh in the third qualifying round of the Conference League 2026/27.

Dynamo conceded a goal early in the match. Zubir delivered a cross from the left flank of a free kick to Silva, who struck poorly on the volley, but Muadib finished the attack with a shot into the far post. No more goals were scored in the first half.

In the second half, Jafarquliyev delivered a cross from the left flank into Dynamo’s penalty area, and Azerbaijani club’s Ukrainian legionnaire Oleksii Kashchuk scored from close range.

Dynamo failed to create more dangerous chances in this game. The Kyivans succumbed to 2:0 and ended their fight in the European club season 2026/27.

“You saw: in the second half we took the initiative, started playing higher up. I think we created three clear chances that should have been converted. But the game does not forgive missed opportunities: where we didn’t score, unfortunately, we conceded. Overall in the second half we controlled the game. We transitioned well from defense to attack, won the ball back, moved forward quickly, created chances. But, unfortunately, today we lacked both luck and skill to score those goals. You saw what chances we had,” Kostyuk said after the match.

He also noted that “Karabakh” took advantage of its opportunities, and that played a key role.
